Vallejo's

Where the heck is Vallejo's?? It's at S and 4th or some shit. Downtown. Right across from CalPERS. A nice find for a non-governmental employee. They have some strong margaritas (that seemed to taste an awful lot like mix) and some yummy homemade chips. Jeff and I enjoyed some smooth Pacificos amongst great company during a co-workers going away party. If there's one thing I have to say about Vallejo's, it's that the portions are hugemongous for how cheap cheap cheap it is. I got a monster-intimidating-mother-of-a-quesadilla for like $6. Pretty amazing. And filling. There were quite a lot of cops hanging out there, though. You should be informed.

Bonn Lair

I went to Bonn Lair in East Sac last night with a friend, Christine. We sat outside on the porch and bummed smokes from college kids heading to the east coast for grad school. We drank Stella Artois, and they talked about music and jazz legends and why Bob Dylan really is a great musician. I told the musician guy about how my family owned a circus. One kid heading off to law school in Boston talked about how much money he's going to make, and that he'll be in $200k debt. [ouch]. Someone was randomly drinking kalimocho, the spanish cheapie sangria made from red wine and coke.

Bonn Lair is a little British pub on J and 36th street, right across the street from Big Spoon and next door to a fantastic Czech/Italian restaurant called La Trattoria Bohemia. The name, I've heard, was inspired by the owner's wife named Bonnie -- it's her Lair, get it? Bonn Lair serves typical British pub food -- we got some french fries -- and has some great British beers on tap. You might find Bud in a bottle, but it's only Brit and Irish pales and ales on draft: Boddingtons, Stella, Harp, Guinness, Old Speckled Hen, Fullers ESB, and Strongbow Cider. OK I think they have Newcastle on tap, too.

Embarrassingly enough, I didn't have the cajones to film Bonn Lair. There I was, camcorder in tow, and I suddenly felt so awkward walking into this little British pub, filming. So I need a strategy. I'll work on it.

Bonn Lair is a favorite spot. It's where we frequent most often. It's a great neighborhood bar and really feels like a British pub. They've got darts in the back, and two smoking patios, plenty of seating, and sometimes serve popcorn to guests in the afternoon. And there aren't typically college coolies hanging out -- it's a bit older crowd, 30-somethings and up from there.

BOUGHT A CAMCORDER

OK so i bought a camcorder today. (Don't call it a DVR or people will get it confused with the thing that records your fav TV shows.) I got a SONY Webbie handheld purple thing, that can also be used as a camera and can easily be swiveled forward and backward to shoot what's in front of you, or you, and hopefully, a friend. :)

I think I'm going to a bar tonight. Will there be enough time for me to learn how to use this thing before Tine and I hit the town? Will 30 bars in 30 days begin today?

We shall see...Stay tuned!
